On 10 September, Lady Sew & Sew in Henley hosted an evening with Tracey Chevalier when she talked about her book 'The Last Runaway', read passages from the book and answered questions. On arrival, everyone was offered drinks (tea, coffee, wine or soft drinks) and made welcome then given the opportunity to view an exhibition of quilts made by Maidenhead Quilters that related to the book. The talk, including insights into the writing process allowed ample time for questions at the end and, of course, there was also time to get books signed and make purchases of all kinds.
The evening was very well attended - in fact it was heavily oversubscribed and, although the hosts made every effort to fit as many people as possible into the space, large numbers were disappointed. As Lady Sew & Sew have other talks planned with speakers who are bound to generate great interest, it will be well worth keeping an eye on their website & booking as soon as possible to ensure a place.
