Judy Stephens

My quilting has evolved over the years and, although I still love traditional quilts, most of my energies go into making contemporary work. I am drawn to strong graphic imagery and an underlying narrative, possibly linked with the fact that I spent my working life as a newspaper journalist. Not the type involved with dustbins or hacking, obviously. I try to make my quilts personal.
I live in Penarth, just outside Cardiff.

I exhibit work with various groups including the Women's Arts Association which offers opportunities to show textiles alongside paintings and sculpture which is exciting. The association campaigns on behalf of women artists and has an excellent newsletter

I am a member of a local professional art group - their first quilter -

I exhibit with Cwilt Cymru We have shown our quilts at the Quilt Association's Summer show at Minerva, Llanidloes, and The Futures Gallery at the Pierhead Building, Cardiff Bay, which is part of the Welsh National Assembly estate.
